Pathways to Independence

Pathways to Independence is an initiative of Butler County United Way, with services provided through a collaborative effort of the YWCA Hamilton and Community Behavioral Health. Pathways has a priority to serve individuals who are unemployed or underemployed. Participants will gain the skills and confidence to compete in the job market, and begin achieving economic independence.

Serving Butler County Residents who:

  • Are unemployed, underemployed, or re-entering workforce
  • Are single parents/ heads of household
  • Are veterans and family members of active military
  • Are receiving government assistance
  • Are motivated to gain economic self-reliance and stability
  • Do not speak English as their first language
  • Want to explore career, training and education options
     

Participants will:
Participate in Pathways to Independence classes and workshops best suited to their needs, based on their skills, interests and the career path they would like to follow and excel in.

Discover their personal traits, aptitude, strengths, and weaknesses using career and self- assessment tools.

Establish an action plan with attainable employment goals and milestones.

Utilize the Pathways to Independence offerings for job leads, motivation, and building support systems for work.

Receive professional support throughout the program, in both group and individual settings.

Participants will gain:
●Clearer, realistic long-term career direction
●Greater ability to make informed decisions
●Assistance with resumes, cover letters, and applying online 
●Increased confidence
●Skills necessary to get and keep a job
●Improved access to jobs
●Improved communication skills
●Access to peer support groups providing continued support
●New job search techniques in a supportive and professional environment
