Welcome to the YWCA Hamilton
Greetings,
Welcome to a new year and the YWCA of Hamilton! I would like to take a moment to introduce myself: I am Sherrie Bluester, the new Executive Director of the YWCA Hamilton. While I enter into new territory with the YWCA, I am neither a stranger to the work and passion critical to empowering women and girls nor to the ongoing fight to eliminate racism. It is my intention to not only continue, but also expand, on the fine work that has been started by the current staff, Board and previous Director to accomplish the organization's mission.
I bring over 15 years of experience in the non-profit sector serving families, women and children. From developing numerous children’s learning centers, to managing employment programs for low-income parents, to facilitating family therapy groups, to managing a non profit organization, I have had many opportunities to fulfill my personal quest to help families improve and excel. These experiences have helped me develop leadership, grant writing and community outreach skills, which I will use to bring new strengths, new programs, and new dreams to the already strong YWCA services and staff.
The YWCA of Hamilton has a rich history dating back to 1900 that has emphasized meeting the needs of women and girls in this area. Today, it stands as a responsive and strong institution committed to identifying and addressing the needs of the local community. We have a strong record for advocating social change and empowering women in Butler County. Under my direction we will continue this commitment to changing the lives of women and their families through education and training, supportive services, affordable housing, economic development, leadership training and racial justice programming.
I look forward to working with you in 2010 and beyond, building on the strong foundation that has already been laid. Additionally, I hope to speak with you soon about ways we can continue to work together. Through our combined efforts we will truly make a difference in the lives of women and girls in the Butler County area!
Sincerely,
Sherrie Bluester, M.Ed
Executive Director
